This will only be of extreme interest to five people in my immediate world, but I am so happy this morning listening to the completely remixed 7 Seconds album, “New Wind.” Released this week as “Change In My Head by Trust Records,” the 1985 classic hardcore album was remixed by Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara. This may have been the seminal album of my young, punk rock self. It was also a “pretty” album with big emphasis on melodies, and a lot of vocal overlays from singer Kevin Seconds that smoothed a lot of the edge of the music. MacKaye removes A LOT of that, and presents a more urgent, raw version of the band. My old man punk rock self is 100% here for it.
